It is also about who can see your connection, how stable it is, and how much control you keep over your data.

A VPN creates an encrypted tunnel between your device and a VPN server. Instead of exposing your regular IP address and traffic directly to the network you joined, it routes that connection through the server. For streaming, that can mean stronger privacy on public Wi-Fi, a different virtual location when appropriate, and a more controlled path to the internet.

It is not magic. A VPN cannot improve a weak internet plan, guarantee access to every catalog, or make every server equally fast. The right setup, though, can make your streaming routine more private and far more dependable.

What a VPN changes when you stream

Every stream relies on a chain of connections: your device, local network, internet provider, streaming platform, and content delivery servers.
